Axolotl Embroidery

I've been working hard on this piece, making the pattern then stitching it over the past few days. I love Axolotls, they're so cute and smiley and I enjoyed every stitch of this one. The thing I love about embroidery is that there's no restrictions on the fabric or floss you can use so every piece can look very individual.

I stitched the design on some lovely printed fabric that kind of reminded me of bubbles and underwater, I used Dragon Floss Stashaholics for the outline and DMC 4215 for the frondy things (I really should find out the scientific name for those!)

I used chain stitch for the main outline and backstitch and bullion stitch on the frondy things.

yeah it was hard work to photograph because the background fabric is so bright! :D
